Please let me know asap when you make your Portal Inn reservation as the Owner asked me to let her know by Sept 14 so she can release room(s) not needed by our group. She has 10 rooms blocked for our Ride dates.

Itinerary:
Fri. 7:30 a.m. we’ll meet up for breakfast @ Mel’s Diner, 13399 Folsom Blvd, KSU @ 8:30’ish.
Route: Hwy 50/Fresh Pond/Hwy 89/Hwy 88/Monitor Pass/US395/Lake Topaz gas stop/& Bridgeport for lunch @ the Burger Barn. We’ll get to Lone Pine near dusk.

Due to the Weather God’s (as Chuck says) recent Monsoon rains & resulting mud/rock slides & road closures to all sites we’d planned inside the Park, Death Valley is no longer our primary destination. Not to worry, we have very cool alternatives in that area.

Saturday, after breakfast in Lone Pine, we’ll head north on Hwy 395 riding 33 miles to Big Pine, turn East on CA SR 168 & White Mountain Rd, riding 33 miles up & into the Inyo Nat’l Forest. We’ll stop to view high vistas, take pictures & then ride on into the Bristlecone Forest & Visitor Center. From there we’ll backtrack to Hwy 395, go south stopping @ the Manzanar Japanese Internment Camp near Lone Pine. If the Visitors Center is closed we’ll ride through the Camp using their self guided riding tour stopping @ each area explaining the story of the Camp. From there we’ll head back to Lone Pine. Cowboy Film Museum & Ride thru Alabama Hills also probable.

Sunday: Breakfast in town followed by Sam’s Extension Ride to the Coast.

Total mileage for this combined ride is 1,228. Total saddle time TBD

Bristlecone Forest/Coast Extension
We will add a coast extension to the Bristlecone Forest ride. Departing Lone Pine on Sunday we will head to San Simeon via Lake Isabella and the Kern River Canyon. On Monday we will ride north on Hwy 1 to Moss Landing for lunch at Phil's Seafood and then home via Pacheco Pass and I5. Lodging at San Simeon tbd.
