Come out and wish Lieutenant Colonel Raymond Otto ille, Jr. a Happy 90th Birthday in Sun City Roseville. He flew missions in Vietnam.
Raymond Otto Ille Jr, was born on February 20, 1931 in Hobart, Oklahoma. He graduated from Temple High School in Temple, Oklahoma in 1948. On August 23, 1952 he married Dorothy Mae Bridges, they had 5 children and were married 65 years prior to Dorothy's passing 5 days after her 87th birthday in April, 2018.
Raymond graduated from college at Oklahoma A&M (Now Oklahoma State University) in the Spring of 1953 with a Degree in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Education. Raymond attended Air Force ROTC summer camp outside of Roswell, NM prior to receiving his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the spring of 1953.
August of 1953, Raymond arrived at Lackland AFB, in Texas for Active Duty, after a week he was off to Bartow Air Base in Florida for Flight training.
Raymond spent a total of 22 years in the Air Force from, August of 1953 until October of 1975, 8 years Active Duty and 14 in the Reserves, he retired as a LTC/Lieutenant Colonel, 0-5. Raymond had 2 other long and successful Civilian careers with Bank of America (27 years) and The Farm Credit Administration, (almost 6 years.)
During his Air Force career he was a Pilot and ended his career as a Flight Instructor. Raymond flew several different aircraft to include: a PA-18(Cub), T6 G (Terrible Texan), B 25 Bomber, and finally the C 124 Globe master (Transport Plane). From 1964 through 1966 he flew at least 3 different Missions to Vietnam. Raymond flew to many different Bases in the United States and to various Countries to name a few: Germany, Guam, Brazil, and Africa.
Raymond has lived in Placer County since 1987 moving to Roseville, then Rocklin, and back to Roseville over 22 years now in the Del Webb Sun City community, where for many years he has been a member of the Heartland Club, the Veterans Club( Which he was the President for approximately 2 years), and the Security Patrol team. For 22 years Raymond has attended St. Clare Catholic Church for and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus and an usher.
In conclusion, Raymond has 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and since the 2020 pandemic he spends most of his time now at home with his eldest child Joan Ille who cooks and cares for him when needed.
