OK Hogsters,

Here is your invitation to ride through one of the true treasures of Northern California...  Our annual Lassen Volcanic National Park Ride.  We have been doing this ride for a bizzilion years.  (got some pics from some of us on this ride when we were really young)  Looks like the snowpack is lighter this year than some, so it's a little earlier in the Summer.

Here's the plan..

We'll meet up on the morning of 6/11 at Mels Diner on Folsom Blvd (near the shop) at 8:30 for breakfast with a departure time of 9:30.  We'll take some backroads to Lincoln where we'll stop at McBean park for a bio break.  Form there, it's North on 65 to 70 through Marysville.  Next stop is to gas up in Orrville and up the Feather River cayon to Beldentown for a snack and another bio break (us old guys never pass those up).  We'll stay on 70 a bit further with a left hander on 89.  89 will take us all the way to 36 just outside of Chester.

The first and second nights are at the Antlers Motel in beautiful downtown Chester.  The phone number there is (530) 258-2722.  Tell Dan you're with the Folsom HOG.  Dinner is somewhere local within staggering distance so we don't need the bikes to get there.  Booze (after the bikes are parked) is at the Holiday Market across the street.  On Sat. morining, breakfast is at the Kopper Kettle Cafe.  After gassing up, we'll take Hwy 36 to 89 into the park.  We'll stop at the Visitor's center and pick up some sandwiches for a brown bag lunch at Manzanita lake.  There is a 30 mile ride through the park that has some pretty awesome views.

We'll continue on to Hwy 44 through Old Station over to A21 that will lead us to Westwood.  In Westwood, we'll stop for the traditional photo op at the Paul Bunyan statue.  As mentioned, the second night is back at the Antlers Motel.

The weather on Sunday may dictate the route home.  If it's not too hot, after breakfast at the Kettle, or maybe at the Graeagle Cafe, we'll take the Gold Lake Hwy to Sierra City and Downieville and end up in Nevada City where we will say our good-byes.

Round trip is just a tad over 500 miles.

See y'all there.

..Chuck
